The Modern Rectangle inground pool has square corners for the modern appearance. But the most attractive feature is the vinyl covered steps in the shallow end. These steps are also referred to as VOS or Vinyl Over Steps. There are no plastic steps, just seamless vinyl over the steps. Modern Rectangle pools have square corners unlike a Classic Rectangle that has rounder corners. That makes the Modern Rectangle shape the most popular rectangle inground pool we offer because of the sleek and modern appearance.
The choice of optional steps are THREE TIER FULL WIDTH, STEP & LEDGE COMBO and SQUARE CORNER STEP & BENCH. Standard steps are 8’ CORNER STEPS or SIDE STEPS if you want the most shallow end. These pools have a 3’ deep shallow end and a 7’ or 8’ deep end. But can be upgraded to RESORT DEPTH shallow ends for a deeper shallow end. A growing trend is to have a deeper shallow end and a shallower deep end. Read more below on a the optional RESORT DEPTH shallow end.

OPTIONAL “RESORT DEPTH” SHALLOW END
Have you ever vacationed at an all inclusive resort and noticed that the pool water is a little bit deeper that a typical inground pool in Winnipeg? That is because those pools are made with sprayed concrete, called gunite, and they can make them any depth they want. Resort depths are typically 4-5 feet in the shallow end. In Manitoba, and most of Canada, we don’t use concrete for our pools because the concrete floor will crack from the frost. We use a vinyl liner that won’t crack and the pool walls are made of steel. The wall height on traditional steel pools are 42” high, which is about 3’ of water depth in the shallow end. This is a great depth for small children learning to swim. But if you want to walk into your pool at a deeper “RESORT DEPTH” you have the option with the MODERN RECTANGLE POOL. The option wall panel heights are 48”, 54” and 60”. The water heights in the shallow end are 42”, 48” 54” respectively. We then design custom VOS (Vinly Over Steps) to enter the pool.

The client wanted a Modern style rectangle with a Vinyl Over corner step and deeper shallow end so she could do laps. We installed a 48” wall panel that was 6” deeper in the shallow end which helped eliminate toe-drag while doing laps. The client also wanted an Automatic Cover because of the safety for children, pets and the falling leaves. We installed a Coverstar Auto Pool Cover with custom stamped concrete walk-on bricks for the seamless look. This is also “95% Maintenance Free” with the Low Salt Sanitizer, Robotic Pool Cleaner and the SwimClear all-season long filtration. To heat the water they are using a 200,000 BTU Natural Gas Digital Heater. The stamped concrete has customer cuts and it looks very upscale. We also have two large ColorLogic LED lights to light up the pool fully at night. For winter we installed a trampoline style Winter Safety Cover for added safety.

The client really wanted the most pool in their backyard as possible without sacrificing size or deck space. The wanted a 16’ x 34’ Modern Rectangle pool with a Tanning Ledge for two Ledge Loungers. We accomplished this with the option of a Variance to achieve a 3’ set back from the back property line and a Tolerance to achieve a 4’ setback on each side. The typical pool setback is 5’ on each side. The 8’ x 6’ Sunledge was just enough space to accommodate two Signature Chaise Loungers. To save space we added a hidden solar blanket roller at the deep end side called a Clear Deck. For tranquility and fun we added 4 Deck Jets. There are 6 small return style lights for amazing illumination at night. The stamped concrete is a “Resort Style” design that is very light and cool on feet with no release, plus a Cantilevered Concrete Edge. This pool has the 95% Maintenance Free equipment package of the Saltwater Sanitization , Robotic Pool Cleaner and the SwimClear all-season long filtration. To heat the water they upgraded to an energy saving 140,000 BTU heat pump.

This was a complete redesign of their backyard and the Modern Rectangle was a perfect fit. The client wanted the vinyl covered steps and bench combination to enjoy the sun. The liner is Savannah Sandstone color and although it looks tan color it creates a teal blue with water. They also added a hidden solar blanket roller called CLEARDECK to hide the solar blanket roller. We installed OMNILOGIC automation to control their heating and lighting from their smartphone from anywhere in the world. The decking is actually stamped concrete but it looks like real wood.

Here is a sleek Modern Rectangle with full width stairs across the shallow end and Desert Sand colored concrete. As this is a large country property the client wanted a safe vessel so we installed an Automatic Retractable Cover. There are custom poured concrete bricks that hide the automatic cover vault. This is a custom depth to 4 1/2’ in the deep end so the family can stand up and play volleyball and basketball. Included are two large ColorLogic lights that illuminate the shallow end and deep end. The heating is a 140,000 BTU Summit Heat Pump. For sanitization we have an AquaRite LowSalt Sanitization System that keeps the pool crystal clear and pure all season long. Finally we have installed a Winter Safety Cover for protection and safety for the winter months. The client added a pavilion for shade and is a wonderful focal point that compliments the pool perfectly.

The client was looking for a smaller pool to compliment their cozy backyard. They already had a custom firepit and patio area and had a space perfect for the pool right next to it. We designed a 12’ x 24’ Modern Rectangle with a split bench/step entry. We also included a deep end full width bench for seating in the deep end which is very popular. We also gave the pool some life with 4 Deck Jets. The stamped concrete is Cedar Plank with a dark contrasting border to frame the pool. The grey aluminum coping looks great. Included are three small ColorLogic lights that illuminate the pool. The equipment pad includes a Natural Gas 150,000 BTU Digital Heater, an AquaRite LowSalt Sanitization System, a TriStar energy efficient pump and an all season long cartridge filter. There is a deluxe solar blanket to keep the water warm and for winter we installed a Winter Safety Cover for protection and safety.

This pool was a perfect size for the client’s wide backward. They chose a 40’ long pool that provided an extra large 16’ x 16’ shallow end for the kiddies. The 8’ side step was perfect off the sunroom. They added a Clear Deck sunken solar blanket roller to keep the deck tidy. They chose a Cedar Stamp for the stamped concrete that came out tremendous. There is a Concrete Cantilevered pool edge and they added a Contrasting Border to frame the pool. The equipment includes a Natural Gas 250,000 BTU Digital Heater, energy efficient Tristar Pump and full OMNI automation. Of course we have included the “95% Maintenance Free” equipment package of the Saltwater Sanitization , Robotic Pool Cleaner and the SwimClear all-season long filtration. For winter security we installed a Winter Safety Cover for protection and safety.

Plus this home was a walkout and it was a very steep access point for excavating. The clients had a wish-list that required a tanning ledge, a bench to accommodate many people, multiple lights, multiple water-features and finally a auto cover for safety. We listened to what they wanted and designed a symmetrical pool interior that gives them everything they need. We incorporated 15’ long dual benches on each side to accommodate many guests and family members. The tanning ledge is just over 6’ x 14’ and is perfect for 4’ in-pool loungers. Overall the space is very user friendly and ready for all the parties the will be enjoying over the next several decades. The water feature is 3 x 3’ Sheer LED lighted Waterfalls that are actuated by the Omni Smartphone App. The whole pool is on the Omni App including adjusting pool water temperature, all the lights and the water-features. The pool is very exciting at night with 10 lights and and the water-features all lit up.
