WHAT IS THE COST TO INSTALL AN INGROUND POOL IN WINNIPEG IN 2023?
Inground pool costs may vary from builder to builders so here is the range. For the a typical 16’ x 32’ Inground Pool, the average cost to install a Classic Style inground pool in Winnipeg for the 2023 season is approximately $85,000 to $100,000. It will depend on the package you get such as Color Lighting, Saltwater Systems, Robotic Cleaners, Stamped or Plain Grey Concrete, Gas Heating or Heat Pump. Smaller pools, in the 12’ x 24’ to 14’x 28’ size range, start around $70,000 to $80,000 . Medium size pools, typically 16’ x 32’ to 18’ x 36’ start at approximately $85,000 up to $100,000. Larger Inground pools in the 20’ x 40’ range are typically $110,000 to $150,000. This includes an 8’ Acrylic Plastic Step. TWO COSTS FOR A POOLSCAPE
But there are really two costs with creating a complete backyard poolscape. The first cost is the pool cost from PRESTIGE and the second cost is everything else to complete the backyard.
DETERMINING THE COMPLETE POOL COST
If you are starting to consider an inground pool, PRESTIGE has a price list for all the popular shapes. We can give you a price list over email on our Classic Rectangle, Kidney & Lagoon and Modern Rectangle pages.
That is a good start, but in order for us to provide you with a thorough pool quote we must complete a on-site backyard visit. While on-site we will measure the backyard pool space to determine the right inground pool shape and size. For city of Winnipeg backyards you need to be at least 5’ from the property line to water’s edge, but some corners lots are more. Outside the city properties may require a 10’ setback. A pool is much more enjoyable in the sun, so placement is very important and the pool does not need to be overwhelming in the yard. We recommend that you pick an appropriate size for your backyard that allows a minimum of 5’ from all structures and at least 10’ from the house. Nothing is worse that cramming in a pool into your yard and realizing you have no room for pool loungers and patio furniture.

From the backyard inspection, we will assess the options for the pool equipment location as there are some regulations for pump, filter and heater placements. We know the building regulations and we pick the best spot with you. Another item we check is the access for the excavator and bobcat. We dig the pool with a large excavator that requires a minimum of 7’ width to get to the backyard. Sometimes a fence may have to removed or an A/C temporarily disconnected. We also look at the grade of your yard so we can determine the right pool elevation with you. We recommend the pool be installed slightly higher than the existing grade in order for ground water to drain away from the pool. If your yard is flat then we will raise the pool a few inches out of the ground. This is normal conditions and no extra back-fill is required. If your yard is not flat or sloped then additional back-fill or possible retaining walls may be required. As well there may be conditions that prevent you from putting a pool in, such as overhead hydro lines. Buried hydro lines are not marked but you can easily SUBMIT A LOCATE request and the city will visit your property and let you know if there are buried lines in your backyard. We can take care of this for you if you need. After the pool has water in it you will need a 5’ high fence and self closing gate. Once the site visit is complete, PRESTIGE will go through a basic presentation and discuss the pool options with you. We will then prepare a comprehensive inground pool quote for you. Our quotes are very detailed and will include the pool shape & size along with all the pool equipment and options you want. We also take care of all the associated trades such as electrical, gas and excavator costs and even fill the pool with trucked in water! We will also include the 3’ of pool decking and you can always add more, if you like. We supply everything required for a complete working pool in your backyard. EVERYTHING ELSE
To complete your poolscape, and get a price on the extra costs you, will need to decide on how you want to finish your backyard space and what extra trades you may need.
These extra costs will depend on your specific situation and your budget. If you have an older home with a fence and finished landscaping then typically you have minimal costs to repair the construction pathway and around the pool, unless you want a complete backyard makeover. Typical grass repairs costs for the construction pathway and around the pool are $1,500 - $4,000. If you just moved into a new home you will likely need the pool, landscaping, extra decking and a fence. You can do that in phases as well as money allows. A nice landscape package including a few shrubs, decorative rock and a few boulders could be around $15,000-$50,000. You may want to go all out and add luxury backyard features such as an island kitchen, fire features, pergolas, pool equipment sheds or an outdoor change room. These projects bring the pricing up over $200,000+
